SPeaker fit problem, anyone have solution?
Alright i was trying to instal my cd player in my civic 99 4dr. i saw that the speakr holes are WAY too shallow for my alpine type-r componrnt woofer cones. i am thinking that i am going to have to drill out part of thespeaker holding to make room for the speaker magnets. if i do that the 'top protection' from dripping water will be gone for the speaker. with this i am wondering how to protect the speaker any. one idea is that i could use duct tape and put it on the speaker so that if water drips on it, it wont get wet....who else has had this problem? any information would be helpfin
I just cut mine out and havent had any problems. I dont think water to the speaker is a big issue. On my civic I have 6 1/4 or 6 1/2 I forget which it is but anyways I had to cut the hole bigger than it is and the back of the door panel because of the plastic. As a matter a fact in all of my cars I had to remove the stock housing. I have a set of kicker componets and they I think the cones are made of paper and I dont have any worries. Does your car have the tweeter spot on the backside of the side mirriors? If so when you take out the stocks and I just happened to have a ND13 which is a smaller tweeter with the surface mount kit fit perfectly. But if you have like a ND22 no way they will fit. I dont know if this will help in the least little bit but I tried. lol
Also Does anyone else have alot of highs and mids in their car? The reason I ask is I have 2 sets of componets that I got to fit in all the stock spots. But I have about 4 more tweeters and 4 3" that I need to get in there as well. I cant really find anywhere else to put more highs and mids. Just woundering if anyone else is into systems?
