Default ZC DOHC Tranny question

Hey guys, whats up? well i have a 90' ef hatch w/ a d16z6 and i got a 1990 acura integra zc dohc tranny, the thing is, when i take off and try to shift to 2nd, it grinds bad, even tho i mash my foot all the way into the clutch. i still have the stock shift linkage from the dx, i also have a stage 2 clutch by grippower or something, im not too sure about the brand of the clutch cuz my brother got it off a friend. what do you guys think? do i have to get a new shift linkage to compensate for the dohc tranny? or is my clutch not installed properly? thx.

Shift linkage should be the same for ZC and DX. Sounds like you have a bad syncro in 2nd gear. Some guys have had good luck running GM sycromesh tranny fluid to stop the grinding. Might be worth a try.

just like Sikocivic said, 2nd gear syncro is shot. Just raplace the tranny. Get it from hmotorsonline, 150 + 75 for shipping

Has anyone noticed this? The 90 Teg was a B18A so he can't be using that tranny.

well, if it helps this tranny has lsd for some reason when i launch it both wheels spin i was so surprised i think it might be an older model tranny cuz it fit right in, well, if the shift linkage is the same well i should just change the tranny fluid see if helps, if not, bye bye lsd tranny , oh yeah, what tranny would be best for my setup guys? Thanks alot for posting btw.

88-89 integras were d series dual cam motors. Very similar to the jdm dual cam zc. He definitely has a zc trans and not a b series trans, or else the **** wouldn't bolt up.

88-89 integras had d series dual cam motors. 90+ integras have b series motors.

you most likely have a bad second gear synchro. There is a slight possiblity that your clutch cable is out of adjustment. Make sure that ****** is tight. If it still grinds, try to save the trans with GM syncromesh. It really does work wonders. Change that fluid out ASAP!

EDIT: at the very least, put honda MTF in it.

I think he means the sohc zc that was in the 90-93 jdm tegs.

It's my understanding that this bolts into crxs, uses the smaller, standard L3 diff and has a 4.4 final drive.

If you dont have any other grinds in other gears, then its just your 2nd gear syncro. its a pain in the a$$. good luck bro.
