Default AJ on Wind Tunnel

I tried to phone and didn't make it to ask him a question but I was going to comment on his attitude about Formula 1. The reason why is, his comment sounded just like Townsend Bells, and I think that a American driver should embrace a ride like Minardi, jaguar, jordan, because that fact that most top F1 drivers start as a test driver and work their way up. So saying Minardi is below him is not true because true talent like Alonso's for example will shine through and eventually you will get a good ride because you deserve it you worked for it and you know the culture of formula 1

Saying "I wont go to F1 unless its with a top team" seems to be a poor attitude, IMO, but I think if I was Allmendinger I'd rather stick around in Champ Car.

Is champ car gonna suffer from Cosworth getting sold though? Don't really know the details of champ engine supply, but I thought they used ford cosworth engines... correct me if I"m wrong though. That plus the IRL running road courses could see an end to champ I'd think

They do use Cosworth engines, but they OWN all of their motors. They don't need to worry until they run out.

Heh.. So, AJ-- what was Dave Despain like in person?

(sorry for off-topic.. it's just that my first thought at seeing the title was that the AJ was "our" Aahj AJ..)

Arrogance? in an American? in a race car driver?

Its shame they are so arragont , maybe those red bull drivers are learning a thing or to and maybe they will make it. I heard Scott speed is leading the championship for the Formula Renault, it would be pretty cool if he could be a F1 tester atleast we would see a american during friday practice.

Your right Sean why should AJ leave Cart when next year he can win a championship. Its going to be AJ v.s. Da matta or frenchie, I think after that huge cry at Las Vegas bruno will be replaced, by Da Matta. I don't see how you can tell your sponsors that Bruno is just a big baby and he can't help it.

I think Scott Speed already clinched one Formula Renault championship (he runs in multiple series). I know a guy who did marketing for his old kart team and he said Speed is very arrogant and it almost cost him the Red Bull ride in the first place because Skip Barber and Danny Sullivan didn't like him (supposedly Barber was angry because he skipped a National series race on his scholarship to run Star Mazda when he knew he didn't have the funding to finish the Star Mazda season), but at the end of the day was simply that much faster than everyone else.

Arrogance can be good, as long as it is channeled in the right way. Just look at Schumacher, Senna, etc. and then compare them to the dozens of tool American kids who never make it past karts or the lower formulae.

Bruno should be ditched, but I'm guessing that like Christian Fittipaldi, Blinky has incriminating pics of Carl Haas. Going after Paul Newman after a race for finishing second to your teammate definitely does not win you very many friends from within the team...

I wasn't sure if Scott was talented or not I thought since his last name was Speed, thats how he made the cut. Also local ohioan that runs the renault series, can't think of his name but I recieved a few emails from him and he was trying to get some donations to stay in the series, have you heard of him? Wonder how well he did. it would be cool if he made the leap.

Champ car is breathing its last breaths. Its already a money pit that is kept floating by very rich men paying for it out of pocket. That won't last very long.

TV revenue... There isn't any. Last I checked <insert whatever the hell the series is called these days> was actually PAYING to be on TV... Spike TV.
Uhhh... Yeah.

But as a competitive driver, I can understand AJs position. Trying to compete in inferior equipment is maddening. If you're really driven to win, you'll start exceeding the ability of the equipment and yourself... And something very bad will happen.

Maybe someday GM will step up and send an all American team to F1. Think about it, it couldn't do any worse than Jag and Minardi and Jordan.
Drivers... Jeff Gordon and AJ.
It wouldn't suck to see that or something like it.

yea I think its Emmanual corviser his entire name does not sound american maybe that is how he got in the series.

Catch I agree with you about Cart, but with Mcdonalds being a big sponsor next year I am hoping that it will encourage other sponsors that may help Cart. They actually profited in Denver which kept Hass/ Newman in the series so hopefully it will get better

Hmmmn. That name rings a bell from the Team.Net autox list circa 1996 or 7. He was a High School kid in a Neon. But I think he mentioned Daddy had a Viper. Given that, not exactly poor, but probably not enough of a large fortune to turn into a small one.

Ok -- I know who you are talking about. Never met the guy, but I know he ran in the auto-x club I run with several years before I got into the sport.

Anyway, to the donating. Of all the charitable causes in the world, I can't quite see giving my money to some wealthy kid to race midpack in Europe being very appealing.

I think that for the most part, all "sponsorship" proposals in the open wheel and karting world begin with the line "Oh, dad..."
