Default What motor should I choose for Boost setup?

I have done my research, I have compared som enumbers from other peopls posts, but I want to here what you guys have to say directly. I have a 98 Civic EX Coupe, and I'm looking to put together a new motor turbo set up. This is my first time ever dealing with boost to bare with me. First off and the most important thing is what motor would you buy, which would give me the most HP for my dollar. I'm not looking to be racing every where or be at the track, It's just a car I would use every day, and when I go out have a little fun with. I'm looking for around 300 HP. I dont want to cut any corners, I want to do everything right. What motor would you choose and why? I would like when its all done and over with to have around 350, but I dont feel I dont need anymore than that. All opinions would help. Thanks!

If I were to start over I think I would pick a B18c1 platform... but I still like B16's. these motors put down serious power all day and are pretty cheap. it's been done a million times before so they are "proven" motors that will get you to your goals no problem...

the only reason I say b18 is because of more low end tq... which is more fun on the street.

You can buy 2 b16's for the price of 1 b18c. Or you can buy like 3 LS motors. I see LS longblocks for 500-700 all day.

I'd say b18c is ideal just because of the bigger displacement and its got lower compression than the itr and is a whole lot cheaper. but u should look around for deals. i got my 20,000 mile 98 b18c1 swap for $2000 and runs flawlessly. I seen a 50,000 mile itr swap in the classifieds for $3000 just a few days ago. But if your really looking to conserve, then the b18b is prolly the way to go cus u can boost the **** out of them and their cheap.

i also like the B18C1...i have it boosted and is now a 2.0 so it has plenty of diplacement...it has good horsepower numbers stock. it may cost a little more than a B18B but if you sleeve it but it will hold up great...just my opinion....and i love my vtec too much not to have it...

Just build up the motor you have with forged rods/pistons and you will have 300whp with the right turbo setup. You won't have to worry about swapping anyting in and d-series blocks, trannys heads, are all dirt cheap compared to b-series stuff.
