what brand of the oil is the best out there?
check out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com, it's an excellent site for oil geeks.
Most people on BITOG and HT would say Mobil1 is a good synthetic PAO oil for most consumers (no need to special order, etc). But Amsoil is considered to be an excellent oil, it is just more expensive and harder to get a hold of - usually need to mail order it.

If you're talking about dino oil, Castrol GTX has gotten good reviews.
I have a 1992 DA with 141,000 miles and I have used Valvoline Synpower (not a true synthetic - made with a Group III base), and now Mobil1. If you used dino oil in the past, you will want to keep a close eye if you start using synthetic oil - check your oil weekly to make sure you're not burning/losing oil.
