Ive wondered this myself. But with no way of telling how the numbers were actually made (seeing that they dont match up to the VIN) then I would imagine that they dont hold any significant value and are just a random number that honda put on the car, to maybe make us feel special.
Why the **** would they be???
If you can prove that you have the FIRST car of the production line for any given year of an ITR, well, maybe. But you can't. ITR 98-0001 may not be first off the line, given the fact that honda seems to have arbitrarily assigned numbers, and the engine block codes are close but dont match.
IMO, the #'s don't have any relationship to the production order/number. And I don't think anyone on this board has been able to prove that statement wrong.
