What side are you having a problem with tranny or hub?

Here is what I do to take the axles out. Take a big *** screw driver and put it between the axle and the tranny apply a little pressure while pulling and turning/ jiggling the axle back and forth. It should come right out. I found that if you just try and pry it out it is a bitch to get out. But if you try and jiggle it why applying some pressure and also pulling on it it should come right out.
you did take the 3 bolts that hold the half shaft on right? I found it easier to jsut pull the whole thing. one big long piece.

He's not talking about the driver's side where the drive shaft is mounted to the block by 3 bolts. He's talking about the passenger's side axle. But yeah, stick a wide flathead (common) screw driver in there and try to wedge it out or even twisting while at the same time, pulling on the axle. Don't pull at the CV joint though. I recently had to pull my axles off when I was taking the motor out.

Im backwards. Sorry. Yea I went to wal mart and bought a pry bar. stuck it between the axle and trans from teh top and pushed hard. Smashed my finger on the firewall. But it poped out.
When you're prying with the screwdriver or the prybar, i've found that it comes out easier if you tug on the screwdriver with short repeated jerks, instead of one long pull (took mine out two days ago).
thanks alot to everyone who helped yeah i gave it a quick few jerks with the screwdriver and ti came out like buttah ..thanks again honda-tech i will post pics when i am done repainting and putting new motor in
