Default Need input from ITR guys about rebuild

I blew my motor a couple weeks ago with a 3rd to 2nd fuckup . After countless hours in disbelief of what I did (j/k, it did suck though), I now need to get a plan together to rebuild. I broke the #4 sleeve and melted the #4 piston (all that was left was where it attached to the rod ).The block will need to be resleeved if I plan on re-using it. I haven't taken the head to a machine shop yet, but more than likely it will need to be replaced. The valve springs are ok and some of the valves are still good. The cams are fine along with everything else besides what I mentioned.

I've tried to find a complete motor, but haven't had any luck yet and don't really want to deal with emissions, ect with a jdm motor. A friend of mine has an ls block at his shop that is in perfect shape and for a good price . I haven't done all my research, but ls/vtec with itr head sounds tempting. I have read you can bore the ls block to ~82mm w/o sleeving, but I'll need it sleeved if I go to 2.0 (84.5mm I think).

Do you think it's worth the money to sleeve it, or just bore it as big is I can with forged pistons, rods, ls crank? The car will most likely stay N/A, so I'm just looking for a good power maker with daily driving reliability.

Here's the options so far.....

1. find all B18c5 parts and build it back stock (lots of money no faster than I was before, but stock is nice anyway)

2. ls block bored w/o sleeves, ls crank, eagle rods, forged pistons,
itr head sk2 valve train w stage 2 cams. (200hp ish at the wheels with good torque )

3. ls block sleeved to 2.0 everything same as above. (still not sure if it's worth the extra 700-900.00)

Any input as far as what I should do wold be appreciated. I'd like to stay around 3k for the whole deal if possible. (College + blown itr motor dont go well together) Thanks for the help!

Why not pick up a SOHC for cheap, and build a monster out of the destroyed C5 motor (after new sleeves on that of course)? I mean this way you can still drive the R if you need too, sell the SOHC once everything is done, and not waste time tearing apart yet another block (the LS you're looking at)?

I was saying pick up a single-cam motor (dirt cheap) and put that in the R temporarily, this is only if your R was a daily driver. If not then just sleeve the C5 block, its already apart and will save you money from buying a longblock with a lot of parts that will be tossed or unused anyway.

I believe he means that you buy a SOHC D series engine to put in your R while you spend the time rebuilding the B18C5, assuming you use the R as a daily driver. This was you can still use the car for transportation, and not have to ruch in rebuilding the B18C5. The SOHC engine are cheap as they are often swapped out, and you could sell it for nearly what you paid for it when you finish fixing the B18C5.
