Results from my Compression Test
Dealer did the Compression test after the valve adjustment today.
#4 170
#3 165
#2 165
#1 160
I think i saw that most people were in the 200's...the tech said that the car is fine and they are within spec......Is this right?

I thought around 180 was typical for a stock compression R. so 160-170 seems kinda low but I dont know the "within spec" numbers recommended by Honda. how many miles on the motor?
they said the numbers are fine and losing 1.5 qts of oil is normal between oil changes... the reason i brought my car in oil loss and my bumper black from my exhaust. I guess i can sleep better now

well the lower compression numbers, plus the fact you are losing so much oil, could just be a sign your rings are wearing and will need to be replaced soon. thats what it sounds like to me. the harder you beat the car, the more oil you are going to lose and vice versa. might wanna start looking into oversized CTR pistons and some sort of engine management
For reference, here are my numbers:
184,181,190,195 (4,3,2,1)
I did the test after running the car very hard for about 15 minutes, then easy cruising for the last mile. Fuel injectors disconnected, and throttle wide open, boost pipe disconnected (throttle body open to atmosphere), about 10 cranking revolutions.
My car has 53K miles, and drinks about 1 quart of synthetic between oil changes
btw..just because an Acura tech did the test, doesn't mean he knows what he's doing, he could very well be a hack that slipped through the system.

I'm not sure the dealer did the test.

you should ask the dealer to redo the compression test because your results are shady.

actually this is right around where you want your #'s. YOu often see #'s in the 240's and 250's but i am sure that those who receive those kinds of results are cranking more then the minimum which i have always learned to be a solid 4. The more you crank the more compression you are going to read obviously. My buddy whose dealership sends him to school all the time for different classes told me the same thing as well. All in all, the consistency of the #'s is what is key though

my friend and I did the test and those are the same numbers i got....
I tested with just trying to turn the car over 4 cranks...didn't have my foot on the gas pedal...My car is not under warrenty and I would think if something was wrong the dealer would have said that they found the problem with the Rings ....you know how the rest works....I would think that any excuse the dealer would look to screw me knowing that they car is not covered.

THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM. OR ELSE EVERY ITR YOUVE EVER SEEN(minus NBP/FBP) WOULD HAVE A BLACK BUMPER. Yes the ITR runs rich off the showroom floor, but not so much as to tar your rear bumper like that.

I did not know this.....i am interested to look at my manual.
