I made my own CAI for my hatch. I took out the big plastic thing that went under the stock intake box. I got my short ram that has one of those plastic heat sheild so that the air only comes in through the top of filter. I got this long plastic flexible tube that they sell to re-route the air and tied it to the top of the filter down through like a CAI would but i made an opening where you can put the jdm foglights and made the plastic tube be there and out in the open. It works great felt a big difference at night in cool weather. my question is that rain season is coming up. will rain be bad if i leave it open or will it only be bad if i go in a deep puddle?

 

The only way youll hydro lock is if you put atleast more then 1/2 of the filter under water.

 

so then a rain at freeway speeds going directly to the tube up to the filter won't hurt or should i just cover it during rain to be safe?
