i've been searching for forever to figure out a problem but it seems like it may be a communication prob with my obd1 p72 on my usdm b16. i have a vafc hooked up and am getting a code 21. i have read that i dont need the vtm wire hooked up for jdm ecu's and such and cant put the wiring back to stock since it is raining out...but will do so soon. my problem is at 4500 my car completely stops reving higher like a revlimiter and i cant hear vtec engage. i checked the spool solenoid and it is within specs and has free movement, i have also cleaned the whole vtec assembly out thoroughly. any ideas of what could be the problem...oh yea also when i put in a chipped p28 it shows the code 21 and not on the jdm ecu...any ideas? thanks and sorry for the long confusing post but help is needed desperately. its been so long since the car last revved to redline.

 

it could be timing because even if you didnt have v-tec it should rev past 4500 rpms

 

i will definately double check the timing also then. thanks for the reply...any one else with some words of wisdom. i just want this thing up to par enough that i can drive it to get it tuned. thanks.

 

the only other things i could think of without hearing it is the distibutor (but there should be a code ) or your overloading on fuel
