Default You Might Want To See This

I don't know what you are familiar to but I was wondering what I could do for an engine swap with a 1987 Honda Civic Wagon Real Time 4WD straight from Japan with a D15 engine. It’s a 5 speed manual transmission, and I want something that will link up to it. Someone told me that Honda makes D series engines every year and they all will link up with older transmissions that used the D Series engines. I don’t know if he knows what he is talking about so if you can help.

You've got two issues...

1. That tranny. Not much bolts up to it. The older dohc zc/d16a1 is the only option that I'm aware of.

2. Are you carb'd or fuel injected? Switching is a parts and labor intensive task. 98% of the ZC out there and all of the D16a1 are fuel injected.

Here's a writeup of an identical project:

You might be better of switching to an aftermarket carb, like a Weber, and maybe a cam.

You'll also find a lot more help for that particular year at the earlier gen oriented Redpepper Forum:
