I've always though LJ Garcias car was an ugly pile of ****. Widebody kits are just horrible and obnoxious looking. As far as JDM being a fad, I don't know. I've always liked clean looking stuff and the JDM frontends for are cars are just allot sleeker, more visually appealing. It just seems the whole JDMbandwagon is on full swing and everyone is riding it right now. It will die off, but I don't think it will go away. Also I agree this thread will be locked soon, I'm sure.

I personally like wide body kits(function over look),
in my case it's a must to have one cause the car is so low that
when I turn wheels and if I'm on little curve my tire is rubing hard on fender
once a totally messed the fender when I got in revers and my tire catch the fender and pushed it in...I was so damn pissed off and I already have widden front fender for about 5cm at least... and I have 205/50/15 tires on with 17" the situation was worse :0(

well, I too much prefure a smooth clean and subtle aproche when dealing with the exterior of cars but widebody kits is where the little ricer in me jumps for joy. Not only does it make a car look more sporty/exotic but the fact you can get wider tires under the car is a HUGE plus. Although, im not sure how much of a difference bigger tires all away around would make on a light weight FWD cars compared to something like an mr2 or rx7...
So my vote is, widebody for
looks: in most cases but some look GREAT(widebody mrs comes to mind)
performance: even if it is ugly/tacky, fat tires own.

Okay, my ricer side will hush now.

[edit] now that I think of it, I have never seen a widebody CRX/hatch.. *cough* pics *cough*

ah first gens, the exception. i love the widebody 1gs, except there is one I remember from about 4yrs back that was terrible looking. The mugen style, ones are sweet there were a few really nice 1g widebodys at Niagara this year.

wide body 2nd gens were VERY hot back in the day, in Germany... Germans and widebodies just go together... I dunno why.

In Holland there's actually a crx at some dealership, that has only done like... 3k miles... SINCE NEW... it's widebody so nobody ever buys it, it's ugly...

but back in the day, people loved it...

I only liked the 'extreme fender' look, like the last first gen in this thread... basically the fenders are rolled out, so it's not a complete widebody, and normally to a maximum of about an inch...

but that CAN have a clean look to it.

Wrong, a wider track can benifit any car, reguardless of drivetrain

I'm not a big widebody fan except when it's subtle like fender flares or something. I think LJ Garcia's car looked like vomit and JDM is and isnt a fad, the OG's will always love it.

Well, I love wide bodies if it serves a purpose. Like an autox car who has wide *** hoosiers and needs to cover em up. Kinda like this..

BUT think about this....since we're on the subject of JDM and trends. Wouldnt you say LJ Garcia's car WAS a bit of JDM? Not the JDM clean we know as of now...but Keep in mind the "WOW" factor wasn't all because the car was wide *** hell...Some of it was because of the rare ***, genuine Feel's body kit it sported. Some food for thought.

Also I beleive the 1g widebody kit, in the above pic, was made by Houseman. Thats what the 1g guys were tellling me at Niagara, and it says it on the windshield.

I never like the Black Widow SE kit cause the front bumper makes the CRX look like a ******* Dodge.

I guess if your into the show scene then it's cool but then again you got people that take their A/C out to save weight so these kits are not for the street/race people.

wide body and fender flares are 2 different things. I know the benefit of a wider track regardless of FF or RWD. hence Japanese tuners with wider tires up front and narrower tires in rear. BUT they are using flares. This thread was originally about widebody kits

TRUE! the part that i hate the most is how the hood looks like a kid who got punched between his eyes. it is all bulging and swollen-looking. Fugly.
