Default I need some help - Searched - clutch pedal

I just finished my H22A swap on my 92 and my clutch pedal goes straight to the floor, I tried bleeding the system, I also took the slave from my F22A1 and tried that to see if I had a bad slave, but it still goes straight to the floor, is this possibly my master cylinder?

Thoughts, suggestions, hell downright boozed out hallucinations welcome!!!

How long did you bleed it for?

When flushing out my clutch fluid, my roommate dozed off and let the reseviour go dry. It took 15 minutes of bleeding just get a little resistance in the pedal. It then took another 30-45 minutes to get it back to normal.

Lots of Brake Fluid will be used.

My 5th gen did that the other morning. I woke up to go to work and the clutch went ot the floor. I checked my fluid and it was bone dry. I don't know where all the fluid went. Everyone has been telling me to go ahead and change the master and slave cylinder at th e same time. And try to do it yourself and save some money. I don't know how to bleed the system though.

It takes two ppl to do this:
There is a little screw in the side of the slave cylinder that you have to open. basically, pump the clutch 10 times, or until there is a change in the pressure in the pedal, then open the screw while someone is holding the pedal down. then close the screw and repeat the process until you have pedal pressure. dont let up on the pedal while the bleeder screw is open, this will suck air back into the system and will slow down the process.

There is a second way to bleed a hydraulic system, which is called gravity bleeding, you put fluid in the resevior and open all the bleeder screws in the system and continue to add fluid while it drains through the bleeders. I am not sure how to tell when this is done however, I would assume once you have gone through a big bottle of fluid you should be good.

The slave cylinder is located on the side of the transmission to the left of the front motor mount. the master cylinder is located on the firewall on the drivers side next to the brake master cylinder, it is the smaller of the two resevoirs.

As you can see, I am fairly familiar with the process, I just can't tell if I have a bad master or slave cylinder.

I will try both processes tonight while I am wiring up my VTEC and let you know which one works for me, if either, otherwise, I will have to try something else, like a slave cylinder rebuild or master cylinder replacement.

Gravity bleeding is good if you know you have air in the lines, i.e. replacing brake lines and calipers. If you pump bleed the system before you know you have that air out, you can cause the fluid to foam, and then you are in for a time. Gravity bleed first, then pressure (pump) bleed.
