another clean civic bites the dust
well i finally killed my poor 91 civic 4dr dx. i loved that car. i had just picked up my daughter from school, shes almost 3 now, and i took her to a local ice cream/sandwich shop to eat dinner and have a little ice cream. after dinner on the way to my old tae kwon do class, where ive been taking her lately as i am hoping to get her used to it so i can enroll her at 5yrs of age, and i was following a cadillac at about 50ft which when i glanced down for a second became 10-15ft all of a sudden i was only doing 45 which is the speed limit and almost steered around the other car. needless to say i rearended the poor guy who had stopped or almost stopped when traffic came to a halt all of a sudden. no one was hurt, thank God. i am especially greatful that my little girl wasnt harmed. the only casualty was the civic, which i spent the last year getting it 100%. it still runs and all four doors still open and shut smoothly but the radiator, core support, hood, pass. headlight, fender, and hood are trashed. i would attempt to resurrect the poor thing but money is too tight right now and i hate to see such a nice car go. it was almost as good as new.
that is good that your little girl is ok. it is too bad that your Civ got tore back, but at least it is mainly cosmetic, excluding the radiator support.
like Hatchbox said, this could be your excuse to trade the front end for a Japanese Market one.

if i were in your shoes, and if the merkur was reliable i would just save money here and there to replace the fenders, the bumper, and the radiator and bumper reinforcements over time. you could get a carbon fiber hood cheaper than a OEM hood, and you wouldn't have to have it painted either...
