ok i am buying this engine from a guy that had a gsr engine for 2 gs motor and tranny which i think is a pretty good deal... i just wanted to know if it was a JDM or USDM cause he doesnt know. on the begining of the block number it says JH4 does that mean its a JDM or USDM engine or is there no real way of finding out... its not a big deal i just wanted to know....

 

It's a USDM or least a USDM tranny because it has a VIN plate on the tranny. Check the stamp below the head, on the left side of the block. If it says B18C1 it's USDM, if it says B18C it's JDM.

 

If it's stamped "B18C", then it's a JDM motor. If it's stamped "B18C1", then it's a USDM GS-R motor.
