but some tracks require you to have lights on so it will make the alternator work. i assume this is at a track cuz ur tlakin about numbers right?

whats your point??? the alternator is working all the time anyway, what does that have to do with anything

pavement is cooler at night, dense air has more resistance to flow (if that will even make a difference) if you have a black hood the sun may make the egine bat a few degrees warmer the pavement may expand stretching the actual distance haha i dunno

Thats what I have been telling my friend, but he still says that racing in the day is better.
Anyone else have input?

Yes, but the hotter the air, and generally the more humid the air. You always want colder air, that is what every racer tries to obtain, and colder temperatures occur when the sun goes down.
Assuming you are running N/A and dont have to worry about heatsoak, after a few passes at a track the tires should be warm regardless of how cold the track is.
My car will literally break loose in second shift during these seasons, whereas I can barely get a chirp during the summer months.

And generally, you only have to run with your corners on, not the entire headlight. Varies track to track, but that's how it is out here (midwest). Headlights on would take a sizeable load, but corners wont.

But lights only consume about 55watt apiece when the low beams are on. Given the inefficiencies of your electrical system, you are probably only drawing about 150watts from your alternator. This is about .2HP, which is negligible compared to the increased power from cooler air.
