Default probably a stupid question...but

What makes the ITR handle so much better than a regular integra? and a prelude? does it have anything to do with the steering ratio? because i was thinking, if the ITR rack is a faster ratio, wouldn't you be able to swap it into the prelude and make it steer a little better? Just a thought. I've seen it done in a subaru.

stiffer suspension, and is lighter than the prelude.

Yeah, it's more of a combination of things that add up to the overall handling. I'm sure swapping over the steering rack(if possible)would improve steering response though. It would be a worth while effort.

Curb weight, weight distribution, chassis stiffness, etc.

Part of the reason.

Like they said ^, lighter weight, stiffer chasis, etc. Here's a link to the old Motor Trend 'Prelude vs. Type R' article that delves into some of this:

I still think the SH outhandles the R. The stock tires on the lude are nothing but garbage.

What makes any car handle better than another? suspension, tires, sway bars, weight. Or crazy mojo.

Put the same tires on the R and the SH and the R beats it around the track. IMO thats a function of handling capability and power/weight ratio.

Steering response does play a major role. I just swapped an ITR rack into my hatch and it's done wonders for the car. However, every other factor does play an equal (if not more significant) role as the steering response.

I'm surprised it wasn't "atleast we know what torque is...", it's rare to hear arguments regarding handling when contrasting the R and the SH. And even rarer that the SH is the one that raises the issue...

lol, ignorance is bliss

if you told yourself a civic hatch drives and looks better than a Ferrari, and you really believe it, that might not be a bad thing...you'll never have to try hard in life to earn a Ferrari

Having driven two Civics with stock steering racks (an EG Si and an EG...something or other), the stock racks are worthless. The Si was downright horrendous, felt about the same as my old '69 Mustang.

The Prelude and Integra were both in G-Stock in Solo2 until the whole D-Stock switcharoo...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but how come the ITR took 1st in 99, 00, 01 and 02?

I've owned both and it's not even close regardless of the tires. The Prelude is very heavy and long in the front. It dives too much and understeers. The suspension is much softer as well. The only performance advantage the Prelude has is more torque. The 20+ ft lbs is noticeble.
