i jus purchased a new g-box...so wen i rip my old one apart il do sum investigating hehe

same here, if the warranty would not have covered it, it was gonna be 1200 to fix it

Default Here's how i fixed it

I had nearly the same thing happen to me. Here's how I fixed it.

With the car parked, I applied pressure on the lever to try and put it in reverse gear. While I did this, I slowly let off the clutch, and gave it just enough gas to prevent it from stalling (I kept it around 1k RPM).

With a bit of pressure, it eventually popped right into place. The only problem was, I was then stuck in reverse. I drove a small distance in reverse (I don't know if this helped or not), and then repeated hte above process to get out of gear.

This happenned to me over the summer, and happened once more about a week or so later. Since then, everything has been normal.

I got this method form another board when my car was having the problem, and it seems as though it has worked for other people too.

I know its unorthodox or whatever, but its worth a shot at beating a $1200 bill, right?

(Oh yeah, this took me a few tries to get it to work, but it hasn't failed me yet.. don't be afraid to give it a little force.. if you let the clutch out with no gas, and the car stalls (without going into gear) you know you are pushing just about hard enough.

good luck

i tried your method and i would get it about half way into reverse and let off the clutch a bit and give it a little gas and it wasnt moving and i could hear the gears grinding a little bit. I tried it a few times, and it just didnt wanna get in there. How many times did it take you? and was your situation different somehow because since i couldnt totally get it into gear, it wouldnt stall when i totally released the clutch.

I couldn't get into gear at all either. all other gears worked fine, but when i moved the shifter to the right, it wouldn't move down at all.

When I was trying it, I did it about five times, and I couldn't get it.. I actually gave up and went back inside. I tried it again later a few more times and it worked.

In order to get it to stall, i had to REALLY push on it as i released the clutch very slowly. When you let your clutch out, do your rpms fluctuate at all? The first thing I noticed was that without any gas, I would lose about 300RPM with a bit of pressure. If you tice any change at all, then I would guess its a similar problem.

I just continued to push it and eventaully I got it to stall. If you reach this point and give it just a bit of gas, instead of stalling, it should get right into gear. The fact that your gears are grinding tells me that you are making contact and your gear is just stuck.

When it finally worked for me, I applied firm pressure very slowly, and let the clutch out VERY slowly again. I feathered the gas as the revs began to drop and eventually it kicked in with a bit of a grind.

I'm afraid I haven't added very much information, but the way it sounds, your symptoms are very similar to mine. Perfecft gearbox operation with no access to reverse. The grind is reassuring as it means you are at least making making contact between the gears.

I'm no mechanic, but it seems to me as though the reverse gear is locked in place, and just needs to be broken free. I think it is in a position where the gear tooth is obstructing the two gears from meshing, and all it needs is a little force to force it to spin to a position where the other gear can force it to move.

Again, this is just speculation, but the only thing I know for a fact is that this worked for me.

Good luck

u can pour it in the big 17 mm nut on the side, or you can pour it in the vss sensor hole.

to change the fork you would have to tear down the tranny as far as the vss sensor hole, its in the back with a harness coming out of it
