About three months after I bought the car the weatherstripping on the driver's side window split. It's the portion where the top of the window meets the upper window sill right next to the mirror when the window is rolled up. There was a gawd awful amount of wind noise and Honda replaced it under warranty.

Here's a pic of where it's happening. The big circle is the broken piece and the small circle is where the split happened.


Now the passenger side has split exactly the same way in exactly the same spot and the driver's side is starting to split AGAIN!!

Of course I will have Honda replacing that soon enough but has anyone else had this problem?? Or a solution?? I'm really not looking forward to having to get these stupid things replaced every 5k miles.

 

39000 miles in Las Vegas heat, and mine are still just fine. It might've just been something odd with that pair.

 

mine is doint that, but not at that spot.

 

mine used to do it around the top portion, but now it's gone. it used to be a pain trying to align the window to slide right in, but it's gone, permanently i hope.

you might as well have them change oil and do lubricant checks while they're at it. lol.

 

that happened to my first ep3 as well. if its under warrantee jus take it in and theyll fix it for free.

 

I noticed I had the same thing on my EP about 2 days after I bought it. So I had it replaced free of charge. I did notice though what they replaced it with was a heavy design then the first stuff.

 

yeah i saw that too...on my ep...ill have to take her in sometime this week...and that would also explain the wind noise

 

That's starting to happen on my 04 EP3. Already 6.6k mi...

Is that what you did? cuz mine is doing it on both sides. paasenger is WAY worse though. It started doing that after about 3 months of ownership. That's funny that you should post this topic i was gonna take pics and do the sme tomorrow on my day off.

 

Mine is split on the same spot on the passenger side about an inch before the corner. I also get a god awful amount of wind noise on the passenger side but I didn't think it was the cause of it. I covered the crack with tape once and the wind noise was still there. Looks like I'll bring it in now.

 

Got the sam problem man, on my passenger side,Same damn spot, a piece totally fell out somewhere and cruising down the highway I can hear the wind comming in. And when I wash the car, a little water gets in too. It blows.

 

hmm... no problem here @ 25K (I think, will check) but a question for those of you with problem/without problem, who smokes? I smoke so my window is always down almost... passenger's side is down frequently too... Dunno maybe you all drive with your window closed all the time or anything to figure out what causes it?

Was it like ripping or cracking? I know plastics need some grease/oil/lube on them to prevent that over the long run, but that's wierd after just 5k... maybe I just never notice it because my windows always down... And I gutted and sound proofed my car too, so I'd think I'd notice...

I heard the RSX had better weathersealant/seals ? Or maybe it was the Ex -&gt; Si and the Si has better seals... can't remember... Is this just an interchangeable part they can swap out or you can get beefier ones for better sound blocking? I notice most of my noise (what's left, it's much quieter now) is coming through the glass, and/or around the glass in the back... wondering if you could beef that up or redo it better...

 

The original on the driver's side has already split once and is splitting again after being replaced by the dealer. The passenger has completely split. To describe what it looks like, imagine just taking the length of weatherstripping and cutting across it with a pair of scissors. I just want it replaced with a heavier piece that doesn't split so when my warranty is up, so I'm not stuck paying $60 every 5k miles to replace a **** design on Honda's part. I'll try to get a better picture. I took that picture at night with a crappy digital camera.

I'm scheduling an appointment for Monday to have it replaced. And I'm going to emphasize USE THE HEAVIER MATERIAL and this is the third piece that is splitting. I don't want this happening again.

I'll give the results ASAP and what the dealer says because I'm positive this isn't the first time they are hearing about this either.

I have the same problem here man... It started happining the first month i got my ep3. ALOT of wind noise and especially water on heavy rainy days or just washing it. I had alot of problems with it and now after seeing this post im taking my car in.

 

mine did the same thing...it sounded like i had a huge hole in my car and wind was just flying in...i just took off the plastic piece and tugged/stretched the stripping up more..works fine now.....

 

i never had that problem with mines
