Hey all I looking at buying a 94' Honda Accord EX. Only problem is that there is a oil leak in the Valve Cover according to the owner. Also when you get on the engine smoke comes out of the muffler. The body is in decent condition and interior is fine except for some cigerette burns. The asking price is $2500. I was just wondering what could be the possible causes for those problems, and how much the parts would cost to replace them. Also if you think $2500 is a decent price of not. Thanks in advance for any help.

Btw: there is 111,000 miles on it.

 

$2500 isn't a bad deal at all. You would have to get a new valve cover gasket to take care of the oil leak. That's not too expensive and could be done yourself.

 

What about the smoke coming from the exhaust though. My friend said it means bad piston rings and compression, if so is this hard to fix myself?

Edit: This car is an automatic, so I was wanting to put in a manual tranny. Im not sure how hard this is for someone knew to mechanical work, also the cost of one.

 

i wouldnt buy it, for $2500, ****, no way, that could be potentially a lot more work than you can either afford or do yourself, i suggest you look for another car.
