CEL?
The other week, my CEL came on...........I pulled the code(s) and I was misfiring. Anyways, I think the problem was my ignition wires, so I got new ones. My CEL is still on, and my question is will the light go off by itself when the problem is fixed? (Maybe the wires weren't the problem). Does it take a while to cycle through to clear it? Can I just reset it myself?
Usually the CEL will clear after some # of engine-start cycles. But even then the code will still be stored, depending on which code it is.
Depending on what year, there's a fuse you can pull to clear the error code memory. Or disconnect the battery for awhile.

I thought the code would clear after a while.........it has been about 200 miles and a dozen or so starts.
I have a 99 GS sedan with 64,xxx miles on it. I was getting a misfire in cylinder 2 and 4 (and a random misfire).
I will do a search to reset the computer. Thanks a lot.

Disconnecting the battery always works, but then you'll need the security code for the radio & you probably have to reset your clock & radio stations.
If it comes back, that doesn't mean it 'didn't reset'. It means the problem is not really fixed.

Thanks. I have a system that I have tuned/tweaked exactly how I like it (took a while), and I don't want to mess it up. I know, I know, just write down all the settings and reset it later (at least I admit to being lazy). haha
I will keep my fingers crossed that my fix was as easy as replacing the ignition wires.......
Thanks for the input!
