It's official...again.
the 9.5" brakes work fine for track use.
The ***** Challenge's first event happened Saturday. Drove up there on the 225/50-16s... they look righteously massive. scrapped a lot, but the 12" brakes did what they were suppose to do.
Got tired of the wheels and tyres scrapping the fenders, so had to swap out to the 13x9s. Since the 12" rotors are entirely too big to run with the 13s, I had to swap to the 9.5" brakes as well.
out of the 3 sessions i ran the 9.5" brakes, never experienced ANY fade. I was running Hawk HP+ pads, autozone rotors, stainless steel lines and ford hd fluid. No ducting whatsoever and experience no fade. Granted, I was not braking as late as i could (spongy pedal due to MC slowly going out), but still, the brakes worked quite well.
If anything a 10" rotor would be the most that anyone would ever NEED. I recommend an OEM caliper, as wilwood calipers are ok, it's just the bleeder screws are the weakest POS ever made and they leak slightly.
Oh well.

Even when I used to run a hot pair of pads, I'd get significant brake fade just doing repeated slow downs on the street with stock brakes.
In relation to my own style of driving on the street, the 10" brakes are better w/stock pads than the 9.5" with some hot pads. Even the 10" has seen tons of fade with a nice set of pads. That's why I, too, am going 11".
running 9.5 brakes w/stock rotors and hawk hp+'s was a great setup for me at gingerman raceway. i'm in the process of putting SS braided lines on and i'm gonna try out some ATE super blue, as i've heard good things about it, and i got some REALLY cheap.
