Default Solo 1 Weekend at Dunnville Autodrome, ON (video)

It was the last Solo 1 of the season here in Ontario held at Dunnville, Autodrome

There were 3 ITRs in attendance tearing up the track. All of which did amazingly well. Tip off to the rookie sensation. Only 4.9 off. Amazing!

Dunnville is a flat track layout containing no elevation, a lot of high speed straight which can be brutal on brakes. To make it a little more challenging the host club decided to run the track in reverse configuration. Not many people have gone to this track yet in Ontario and they decide to run it backwards, haha it turned out to be an interesting event. Everyone in the paddock was talking about T1 entry lines and how to handle this interesting sweeper. I didn't get this sweeper right all day and I know this where I definately have to improve to gain some more time.

Here's a picture of the track layout.

And a video of a couple of laps [10MB]

Nice vid, Edwin! Very smooth. Props to you.

I see what you mean in the sweeper. Seems like you were maybe early-apexing the first part and had to lift on those two laps in the vid? Looks like a hard turn to get down...

I'd love to run that track in my 8-6. I'm thinking hard about doing some Solo 2 in the next month so that I can get as much seat time as possible before OTC.

Well R-compounds are generally considered to give you about 4 seconds if that helps to compare...

With all that said I know that they're buds and that a friendly competition helps to motivate everyone.

I'll take that friendly wager. I've seen her improve this summer and I have faith.

Maybe girls can't drive, but some women can.

What are you mods, man?

Very nice. That's pretty cool that you have Solo I tracks, I haven't seen anything like that around here. I guess the one that's sort of being built at E-town could KIND OF be like that, except horribly dangerous.

I would never put myself or my caR on Raceways BS track. that thing is a death sentance.

Edit:
Good video, but that track seems so flat, with nice turns...

Hence the "horribly dangerous" bit. Unless it's redone (don't see that happening), or MAYBE if they send out one car at a time (don't see that happening either) I'll consider it, but it's a better chance that I'll just avoid it altogether.

Sweet vid dude! We had pretty similar lines through that track. Think I rode up on the curbing a bit more but other than that, that looked like my line!

I don't know, PenPen looked pretty smooth out on the track towards the end of the day. She really cleaned up her line really quick for a Noob. With R-comps and track rotors/pads, I think she could give you a run for your money. Throw in a bikini contest into your little competition and I know where my money would be. Even if you shaved them legs o' yours, you ain't got a chance yo! Hehe

Where's the rest of the pics from the day?

BTW - I heard this weekend that Dunnville is only half done. When it's finished what we raced on is only going to be half the entire track. It's going to take up all the land to the right of the track all the way to the trees. The final straight is looking like it's going to be around 3/4 to a full mile long. Similar to Mosport only without the up hill climb. Should be killer fast. Really, really, really wished they put in some banking to save our equipment a little bit. But should be a fun course when it's finally completed.

It's about 20 minutes west of Cayuga on HWY 3. About an hour and a half to an hour and 3/4.
