just bought an exedy clutch today. when i opened the box, i was surprised to see that the clutch disc had 6 springs. now all the pics that i've seen on this board have 4 springs on the disc. the box has a part number HD05S. do you guys think i got a fake?

It's not fake. Exedy makes 6-puck disc.

actually i meant that the disc has 6 springs on the clutch plate. all the pics i've seen on honda tech only have 4 springs, that's why i think it might be a fake

where did you buy it? if it was from ebay you got the LESS exedy that is not really an organic.....it is just a stock replacement!!

 

bought it in a local store. i compared the OEM replacement and the organic, the OEM has 4 springs while the organic has 6 springs. i'm beginning to wonder if the US and asian versions of the organic clutch are different ( i bought it in the Philippines )

 

from what i have learned (could be very wrong) the six spring is for a different year car. The four spring is for a 90-91 and the six is for newer..... Could be wrong.. But im just trying to help

why do those clutches suck? just curious.

 

everybody is always talking about how there are horrible quality, they wear out quick, and tend to have springs break inside of the disc

 

Fake sounds good to me.
