Back up Battery
i "added" an optima yellow top (which need to be re-located due to width) and put it in the trunk. i bought a huge *** insulated power cable 15 ft. from a shop that sells welding equipment. and i bougt the rest of the parts @ autozone. i needed a battery case that i bolted to the frame in the trunk (on the passenger side next to the hump) i then needed new battery terminals + & - the negative i bought w/ the wire so i could ground @ the trunk. i also bought a circled terminal and an older style battery terminal that has a bolt (sorry im vague i dont know the names of them) so basically i drilled a hole in the firewall after pulling back the carpet etc. the hole came out near where the orig. battery was located. i ran my bare wire (with all power disconnected first
) through the hole drilled along the passenger side under the molding and behind the panel and finally under the rear seat. i cut off my excess and connected my + terminal. i then had to drill out another hole in the trunk and i bolt+washer+nut and torqued it to the frame (this required a friends help to hold down the underside while i torqued it down.)
then i removed the + terminal under the hood (make sure you connect all the extra wires back, there's more then 1) i used that weird terminal i mentioned earlyer. wait, actually i just crimped down 3 circle terminals and stuck a bolt+washer+nut and torqued the **** out of it and wrapped it in electrical tape. (ghetto style)
now i know you want a backup battery, so what you'll need is a battery isolator. i found mine @ pep boys for 30 bucks. it basically charges the batterys in intervals. so with two you should use the stock one up front, have the isolator installed under the hood. and use a deep cycle battery in the trunk.
damn this is a long post... ill write more if ya ask. peace

Can I use the backup battery for the alarm too ? If we have one in the back, the alarm will still sound no matter what the thieves trying to do with the front battery right? I dont know if this might work or not.

usualy when people hook up a battery in the trunk they do it becaus they are not using a battery in the engine bay, if you put one in the back you just put yours in the back then the people who try to diasable your alarm will probably run off becaus its taking to much time to cut the alarm, and they probably wont be able to find the power wire for the alarm either so they wont be able to start the car without the alarm going off

yea, both batterys will source as power for the alarm. They also make add-ons for alarms that use small house batterys that act as a power source for the alarm if the positive terminal is removed or cut from the car.
