i swapped a ZC into my 89 CRX Si and it won't start. the motor is getting fuel so i assume it isn't getting any spark. i have checked and rechecked the wiring on the dizzy. i took one of the spark plug wires of and held it just above the spark plug, i didn't hear it sparking. this is my first swap that i have done completly myself but i am familiar with hondas anyone that has any ideas or input that could help me would be appreciated. thanks alot

 

check grounds and fuses... (ground at thermostat, tranny, valvecover)

did u gap ur plugs b4 u put them in (if they were new) take each cyl plug out,

check for spark each cyl: dissable fuel pump and touch tip of plug to block w/ plug in plug wire. should spark, do this w/ each cyl (need friend to turn key)

 

check for grounds....dont gap your plugs if they are PREGAPPED ALREADY !!!!

 

bah pregapped, pregapped prolly for .030-.041 .... u should allways check them, i've had packs of plugs come "pre-gapped" and had them all over the place... couple here couple there..... allways check u'd be suprised.

 

i haven't checked the gap on the spark plugs but i will, i don't think they are the spark plugs they are honda plugs i haven't ever got any bad ones from honda but there is a first for everything. the motor doesn't even try to start it just turns over, even if the plugs were wrong it would still try to fire right? i could be wrong i hope thats all it is but i dout it. ill check though thanks for the help and please keep it up.

Id check all the grounda like they said. And if that doesnt work then i would take apart the dizzy and make sure that the coil and ignitor and everything are ok. Hell it might even be the rotor...if its too worn then it wont give enough spark to each of the wires. Good luck.
