Default What to do with an auto EK...Suggestions?

Hey,

In Iceland at the moment finishing my master degree. However I was just informed by my parents that they picked up a 97 CX for $530 (has 100k miles and a dented fender). Its also automatic.

I understand it's in good shape and it'll be nice ot have when i return to the US sometime next spring.

Eventually I'll want to make some changes, particularly with the motor and transmission. I think the car was acquired for cheap enough to make a transmission conversion worth it. I'd like to get some suggestions on good swaps for a situation like this.

I'd like to go with a B or K-block and whichever scheme would present the least difficulty going from auto -> manual.

Thanks.

H

i think the auto to manual conversion wasnt that hard at all.. actually i wouldnt mind doing it again if i got another car for cheap.. well i did mine during my b series swap into my ej8.. so i had everything out anyways.. but either way its not too difficult.. you'll just have a bunch of extra wires... or you can just de-pin them i did.. SWAPS.. it all depends on what you have money for.. if you a **** load then i would go for the K.. heard lots of good things about them.. or maybe even a h22a if you're in the mid range.. go gsr.. pulls nice.. LS if you're cheap like me... good luck

Since you've mentioned K-series, I'll assume money isn't an option for you. I'll go for the K-series Maybe an LS-turbo?

search this site for k-series info. after that, i don't think you'll settle for anything less.

^^^Shut up, thats a cheap car, if it's not in bad condition body/interior wise then go for it and its like getting a so-so car. Except now you have a k-series beast.

A 97 for $530?!?! That's an amazing deal..
Don't mean to swerve from the topic, but you could use it for a hell of a down payment (around $6000) on a sports car that is already stick. Just a thought.

dood.. sell it. It's called profit. Buy anther civic for cash at 2 grand, a 5spd, and use the other 3-4k in a gsr swap.

PIDTS

Are you going to do any racing (Solo II/I, HPDE, drag series, etc), or are you just going to daily drive it?

If it is just for daily use, just swap in a manual and boost it.

Actually,

First, get a new fender, then...

I think i'm going to see how much it will cost to bring it over here to Reykjavik. I need a car, Its worthwhile ot have a car here to drive up glaciers and go to hot springs and such.

i'll be done in June and I will sell it here in Iceland (where it will go for 25% more) or throw a load of my stuff in the back and ship it back to the US.

Thanks for the suggestions, i actually didn't realize the K-swaps were so costly, that sport compact car article made it seems more feasible then I can tell.
