Default Thicker Oil

can i run 10w 30 instead of 5w 30, with out messing anything up?
my car is burning oil so i was gonna use thicker oil so mabey it would stop burning.

can anyone help? i cant find anything about it in search so i though i would ask before i messed my car up.

10w30 is fine but get used to burning oil especially if u have an h22
