Default d15b2 block + d16y7 head = d16y7 tbelt??? and what water pump?

i found out the hard way tonight that the d15b2 timing belt is a little bit too long. it skipped teeth and my valves made not so nice noises. I hope i didn't bend any.

anyway, i've read that y7 and y8 t-belts are the same thing, and that when you use a y8 head on a EF block you have to use the y8 tbelt. i'm assuming i need to get a y7 tbelt so which i also assume will be shorter (less teeth) than the d15b2 timing belt.

since i took the time to take the crank pulley off, and timing cover, and since i'm about to get a new tbelt, i figured i might as well get a new water pump while i'm at it. do i just get a replacement d15b2 water pump or do i need one for a d16y7?

TIA for your help.

I wouldnt worry about some $8 belt better check and make sure your vavles are ok.as for the water pump if the one on there is off the d15b2 then get another one just like it.

wow, i would have guessed that the d15 t-belt would actually be shorter than the d16 because of the shorter deck height. hmmm.

but ive never compared them before.... im not sure - bump

I have a Y7 head with b7 block. Using z6/y8/y7 T-belt. Use the 1.5 water pump.

BTW I doubt you bent valves, I jumped a couple teeth on a 11:1 comp y8 head/b7 block combo and they were fine. And my camgear slipped once and no bent valves.

Btw I like this setup, boosting it next week.
