Just bought Falken Azenis
Just bought a set of 195/60/14 Falken Azenis'
. Paid $100 for a brand new pair
. Just wonder if anyone had any feedback pos or neg on these. The reason I got them is the lack of traction in first with a 6puck clutch on some shatty Federals. Read some of the threads using Search and most ppl hype these tires then regret them later. I didn't buy the tires for an all season, just a cheap radial to use @ the track. Anyone wanna tell me some tips to breakin them in, if any? I thought maybe 350 miles before launching and keeping highway speeds moderate. And when launching on these, I thought maybe heatin them up in the shallow part of the water box then slowly pulling forward. TIA for any replies, - Darrell

Actually, from what I've read they're alright in the rain, better than expected. But in the snow they're deadly. Standing water + Azenis = Hydroplane I would imagine. Still hoping for some info on how to break them in. - Darrell
I love them
One summer I got cought on the highway in a downpour that was so hard I could barely see and I had to keep moving and I can say from first hand experience they are not great in the water, I could barely do 55 on a 75mph road without loosing traction.

I got 15000miles out of my first set
I pull 2.1 soch all motor launches
Only reason cop pulled me over is because he spotted my tires, searched my car (didnt find the bottle), cited me for exhaust, rolling through a stop sign and unlawful lowerring
Cheap as fawk
Hydroplanned on an on ramp
I dunno, pros and cons, I love em for this car because Im young and stupid, but for a daily when Im older I wouldnt keep em
BTW- I slapped 195/50/15 Ziex in the back, got way more safety control in the wet and piece of mind and I know theyll outrun 2 sets of Azenis

about done on my first set of azenis
this is my college hoe car that goes 4 hrs to school....sure is not fun when it is raining on the hwy, max speed of 55mph
they were only for summer though, bout to order some ziex or toyo proxes
not sticky when cold out
But these are made for dry and hot/warm weather. Everyone knows that. I went slower on the strip w/the azenis, but yet again, I dog on my b16 quite frequently

I had these tires on my hatch the same size and I really did not like them I had them all the way around and they sucked the back felt like it was gonna slide out and in the rain forget about it.......they wore real quick......but they hooked better then a reg street tire
You have to wear off the "glaze" that you will see from the factory. Dont launch them to get this done because you wont clear off the back glaze. just drive it normally for about 50-100 miles... the glaze will be gone. I go to track days and autox's in the HOT the COLD and everything inbetween and they are fine. they do act like a harder compound tire in the cold but its nothing too bad, and with time they warm up and get stickier. in the extreme hot they are prone to easier overdriving/over heating. but unless you are on track (road course) i doubt you'll ever find that out. the azenis arent that good for drag racing, being they are a heavy tire. i've run a set, and just about everyone in Madison Motorsports has run a set... shoot ".RJ" a line and see what he has to say. He's tracked just about every tire out there.

I loved my old Azenis. I had 195/60R-14 on HX wheels and they were the best tires I've ever owned. I didn't see a big problem in the rain either, but I never really encountered any big downpours, but any performance tire will suck in extreme rain. I drove the car after I sold it, in the snow one day and it was totally worthless, but that is why you should have some extra wheels with some Dunlop DS-1 Studless on.
