Ok here is what happens -

When im in second gear with my foot on the gas its fine - while in second gear, if i push in my clutch the gear kinda popps out half way, and when I try to release the clutch, to go back into gear, it would start grinding because of the gear not being in all the way. Anyone know what this could be? Is it my syncros? <- Think thats how you spell it!

I'm not that intimate with Honda transmissions, but whenever I've heard of that occuring on other cars (like my old Datsun), it has been because of bad synchros in the transmission.

 

U also may have a bad shift fork inside the tranny, this happened to my last two trannys.

 

what yr is your car? if its newer, there is a service bulletin out to fix that problem...

 

Mikedog4, define "newer", and could you be more specific about the service bulletin and what this means. i have a friend with this problem on an 01

to the original post, while looking into my clutch\transmission issue i was having and searching honda-tech endlessly reading thread after thread, synchros or a bad shift fork could make the car pop out of gear. either way that tranny has gotta come off to be fixed. good luck

 

That happend on my old mazda. And it was the syncros, get those checked out.

just happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I strongly believe it is the mainshaft bearing/input shaft bearing, I just replaced the tranny with a jdm s20. I gonna go ahead and rebuild my y8 tranny to the hilt

 

probably sync's or fork, get it checked

 

start looking for a used transmission.

 

I have a 92 hatch si (d16z6) - What do the shift forks look like? Where can I find them? Its only in 2nd tho - If the shift forks were bad...wouldnt it slip out of every gear?
