Default d15b-pm6ecu and vtec controller or p08 ecu with obd-0 to obd-1 harness

Ok deal is have a 89 crx si and am plannin on gettin a d15b vtech. local shop told me that it will run fine with the stock si ecu and a vtec controler. i would prefer to convert the harness and ge tthe correct ecu but the only place ive found them was passwordjdm.com and they only have them for automatics. WHich would better convert to obd-1 and use the auto po8 or stick with the si ecu and get a vtec controller? How much performance difference is there?TIA

do the obd0 to obd1 conversion, its better to run it that way because you wont have to ghetto rig your vtec and itll run the way the engine is suppose to run with its correct ecu. i mean you can always run it either way but like if money is low then use ur stock but u should eventually convert it to obd1

use the p08...its worth it
NOT THE P28 cuz the P08 is the OG..use the OG!

There are other places besides passwordjdm that has the p08 ecu, you can get them from ebay (where I got mine) even look at eg6ajk's website. he sells them as well.

Well now for cost reasons im thinkin bout just using my stock si ecu and not converting to obd-1 and possibly just using a MSD rpm activated switch to enable the vtec. Anyone ever use this setup? since its a 1.6 ecu and the motors 1.5 it shouldnt run lean with when the vtec engages should it just maybe a little rich when not in vtec correct?

we did a d15b swap into my friends sedan and used a p28 and it runs like a champ. we put a z6 in my car and i got an ecu from zdyne that had been programmed to run the motor. i did have to alter my dist. but not alot and i still having timing adjustability.

from what ive gathered you have several options convert to obd1 with a conversion harness and run either a p28 ecu (92-95 civic ex d16z6) or the po8 ecu which is the correct ecu for your jdm d15b. Another is keep your stock ecu and buy a vtec controller. I heard that some features cant be used on pre obd cars though dont know if this is for sure. and the last option and the cheapest and prolly not the best would be using your stock si ecu run a MSD rpm activated switch or similar to activate vtec. these are just ideas from what ive read here on hondatech and other resources i have yet to decide what im going to do

I just finished my d15b swap and i have a P08 auto ecu and i cant get the car into drive. If i swap in a P28 auto ecu it works fine. HELPPPPPP.... I much rather run the correct ecu for the motor. But we cant figure this out. Everything else went smoothly up to this part.

I am running a D16z6 motor in my 90 SI hatch and vtec is off of the RPM activator it runs good with my stock ECU but just recently my dizzzy started to go bad so I think I will run the 0bd1 conversion next... I spoke to another local running the same setup but with the complete 0bd1 setup and he said it ran a lot better with the 0bd1 setup, than with just the stock pm6...
