no getting an itr rear sway isnt a waist. its not a waste either. bad grammer aside its one of the best bang for the buck suspension mods you can do.

bad spelling aside too

he's correct though, its one of the most cost effective mods you can do for an integra. anyone that has done it will probably agree. i got all the parts including the bsq kit for $121

no it is a good upgrade. there really isn't much sense in getting the jdm over the us, unless you really want that 1mm extra or to say that you have a jdm. get it and put it on. although your car will handle different, so be warned.

I got one installed on my GSR last year....it does make a difference, but reading through a few ITR swaybar posts on HT will make you think that you arent even going to recognize your car after the install....bottom line is its better, but not night and day like some say.

i can't see why this upgrade would be a waste.. unless you're all for show then i guess you shouldn't get it.

My buddy has the USDM ITR Sway (22mm) on his '00 Ls and I have the JDM ITR sway (23mm) on my '99 Ls.
We both have the same exact suspension set ups but each car acts differently in high speed turns due to that 1 extra mm thickness.

An ITR Sway bar upgrade is by far the best bang for your buck suspension mod.
Do It, You won't regret it

Just remember whether its a JDM, USDM, or some aftermaket brand, a sway bar is just a solid piece of metal or at the very least a very rigid group of metal conected to make a bar! geesh! how complicated can a "bar" get? comeone its basicly a fooking broom stick!! (although I wouldn't advise using a broom stick!! LoL )

might just be a bar to you, but it's a really good upgrade for the money. so it isn't just any bar you stick onto your car.. it actually helps out with performance/handling.

What would be an advantage of the comptech tie bar/ sway bar combo, compared to the ITR sway bar. Is it true the itr sway bar can tear apart the chassis? I've heard that in the past and never really made sense to me.

I guess if it did, you guy's wouldnt be praising it.

when you consider that the comptech rear sway/tie combo is almost 3 times the price of what you can pay to get the itr, it doesnt seem worth it to me. you don't necessarily have to drill your subframe either. you need to drill the abs bracketing thats attached to the subframe and knock out a tack weld on the subframe, but thats it. people have been running this setup for years with no problems- even people who use their cars for autocrossing which would put a little more stress on that area than a daily driver.

the comptech is adjustable, thats the only 'benefit' i could imagine. you can tear out the subframe if you don't use a mounting kit like BSQ or Beak's.

Thanks dude, you seem to answer all my questions. I appreciate it alot.

In the civic forum, people just start bashing you. Plus if you ask a question everyone just say SEARCH, even after hours of searching.

most of the h-t forums are like that unfortunately. most fools will just tell you to search without providing any actual assistance at all. the general consensus is to assume that the person hasn't search there will always be questions that are repeated that could be searched, always people asking seemingly silly questions, and always be noobs so it doesnt bother me. we all started somewhere

Glad to see that there are other people who think that search ***** are getting out of hand. I believe the comptech tie/swaybar combo to be the best there is, but bang for buck, the ITR rear sway w/ BSQ Mounting kit. The reason I think the comptech is the best is because the tie bar basically has no pivot points and is a straight through design, and also gives excellent mounting points for the swaybar.

To answer, as a few already have done...no, it's not stupid to put a ITR rear sway bar on.

This modification/upgrade IS one of the best bangs for the buck!
- Doesn't take a long time to install.
- Done properly, it will not tear out your subframe. Make sure to use the mentioned Beak's or BSQ kit. (Note: IF DONE IMPROPERLY...it can very well damage your subframe.)
- Make sure to use some type of lube for the rubber mounts that actually touch the bar. I think a year or so ago, someone mentioned using a Lithium grease. I need to do this since my bar squeaks and moans against the rubber in turns and on cold mornings.
- I am not sure you would notice a giant difference between a US ITR (22mm) and JDM ITR (23mm) sway bar...but then again...I have only used the US sway bar. Someone on here once had a mathematical formula for finding the tension or torsional strength for different size sway bars. I'll try to find it.

My experiance:
I bought a 2001 GS-R, 2 door. Took a really tight turn a little to fast (around 30mph), lost control of the back end, overcompensated, and slid off into the dirt.

Learned how to drive a front wheel drive car.

Purchased a ITR rear sway bar and miscellaneous parts for around $110 about 2 years ago.

Installed the parts using the BSQ mounting kit.

The car now handles a lot better...very predictable...can take turns much faster, safer, and with more confidence now.

The only problem that I am curently having is that the bar makes squeaking noises when it is cold...that's it.

Then I got the following for my suspension:

Upper Front Type-R Strut Bar...$65 off of eBay.
Upper Rear Honda Access Type-R Strut Bar...$180 off of IPSracing.com
And I am in the process of doing research for the rest of my suspension.

See my website in my signature for some pictures.

Any more questions...just ask...I am more than willing to help out.

tell him to sit in the car with you after the install when you're whipping around turns at 60+ mph

so everyone is using their stock front sway? wouldn't it be better to get both the front and the rear sways?

from reading all of this, i'm guessing that there is more oversteer with just a rear sway upgrade?

tell them if he thinks it's stupid, honda is stupid for wasting a lot of money making a thicker, better functional one for ITRs that are known for great handling... what a dope your friend is...

i believe the stock front sway for dc's are thick enough already at least 20 something mm. correct me if im wrong... but the rears are really thin at least 16mm. except the usdm itr is 22mm. while the jdm one is 23mm..
