h22 transmission fluid
*SEARCHED ALREADY*
Hoping someone has pictures on how to replace transmission fluid in h22a. My 3rd gear is grinding when shifted at high RPMs.. I think I will be trying some GM Synchromesh, any help would be great.
Thank You
Anthony

You do not need pics. You need to revise your search. just find the bolt that you can fit your 3/8 socket into. Then find the other that sits on the same plane. The rest does not need explaining.

ThE bolts are on the lower left side of the trans. The drain bolt You stick a 3/8 socket extension in there and turn Drain and put the bolt back in. then about 2 inches up on the left there is a 17 mm bolt you undo and fill. make sure your 17mm socket is a 12 point socket or it wont work
Just a tip loosen the fill bolt first before you drain the oil as you don't want to be left with a tranny that's drained, when you can't release the fill bolt. It does happen.

I am in Maryland and I JUST did this yesterday. I JUST finished swaaping my JDM H22 into my car too. I put Synchromesh in it too. lol
I am too tired right now to help, though. I can probably help next week though.

heres one way you drain that bolt on your tranny with a 3/8's ratchet and then fill though the bolt above it which should be a 18(i believe) until the fluid over flows and your set.
I just did this a couple of weeks ago , but I added lucas tranmission fix with 10w30 and I can tell a difference when I shift, it's alot smother . It also stoped a small leak I had

lol dude, that's the ONLY way to change your transmission fluid.

you can fill through the vss
now you know.
ps. i just drained and filled my tranny with mobil 1 synthetic 10 30 so far so good. i personally think the gm synchro mesh feels alot smoother. oh well i cant complain it was free service at work.

that wasn't my FINAL answer though
But what's the point in filling through the VSS hole? The filler plug is supposed to be off to make sure you don't overfill anyway.
Ok, so I guess, TECHNICALLY, it's not the only way, but adding that step takes more time, and it's not really another way, considering you'll have to do each step from the standard recommended process leading up to removing the VSS anyway.

Once you've drained it an easy way to fill it is get a length of 3/8" clear plastic tube, push a funnel tight into one end then feed the other end into your tranny fill hole round any obstructions, add fluid till it comes out let it settle then replace filler plug. Make sure car is on level ground also.
get the gm ****! it did awesome with my h22 tran 3rd and 5th gears. to fill it just go to checker or a local part store and get a funnel with a 3/8 tube thats at least 1.5 feet long and u should do just fine

don't have to...take off the breather cap on the vss, put a piece of hose on it and fill...but yes, keep the filler hole open so once it runs out of that... kablamo!! youre full

This may be old but, why haven't anyone replied on how GM Syncromesh is a ******* internet bandwagon. It is thinner and fucked up my tranny.
It may be smoother for a while but it isn't something that I would recomend on a tranny that is already working well.
With that said, I REALLY NEED AN H22 TRANNY. %100 of the people that are selling them FLAKE!!!
