Default GSR cam install into b16 day!!!

GSR cam install today....

Just to let you all know, Sick Hatchem and I decided to do some cam swappage today. both of us had aquired b18 camshafts for our non obd b16a's.

Mine sat on my floor for 2 years, along w/ my bling bling STR cam seal, we both aquired new honda cam gear seals before starting this project... well after 2 hours and the net being down for most of it, my car has been started but not yet road tested. idle is exactly the same, and sound of motor has no change... but i didn't have to adjust any of my valves... there were slight drag on all of them just like prior to the swap.... ????

anyone know anything of this? how possible is it that i did not need to do a valve adjustment? the cams are definately different from my stockers.... and so are sick hatchems.....

b16intake and exhaust vs. gsr on bottom....

notice gsr has rings and b16 does not

neet and tidy

we ready for ur rods sir.

all done

It is possible that you would not need to do a valve adjusment. Some honda valve lash specs are the same for many different cams. A valve adjusment would not hurt though.

If you did the cam install properly you would not check the valve lash after putting in the cam because putting the cam in with out loosening the valve lash can cause it to bind going back in. That is why the cam jumps around. The first step in putting in cams is to back out all the valve lashs. You finish a cam install with a valve lash adjustment.

u dont have to back them out, but IMO all those things should be the same.
the cam hass the same basse circle, so the lash shouldnt have to change; and the only reason it would is possibly because of variances in production. vtec should hit harder tho

johnzm u da man, seen ur write up very nice very nice... thanks for clarifying... might do an adjustment on my car in a week or so, it's up to sick hatchem if he wants to do his but i recc it especially on that #4... mine all seemed to have the same amount of drag, but his had more and that #4 Intake was sooo tite we couldn't get the feeler in there that well

I'd like to know how the after instal feels with the new cams. I have a set of GSR cams for my B15 sitting here in the box, waiting for my seals and gears to come in.
