Default Need help with starter!(sorta long sorry)

Well my starter went out a couple days ago and left me stranded in charlotte...and hour and a half away from home. I couldnt roll it by myself so i just got my girl to bring me back here tog et tools and a new starter. I bought a used one from a friend of mine that owns a shop...went back down there and had it on in 30 minutes. Go to start it and the starter makes this crazy *** clicking npise...almost like theres gears in there that are stripped or something. So i go back to dirty HP and talk to the guy that owns the shop...and he said that it was all these different things like plugs and wires, or a bad battery and all this bullshit. I told him that even if the plugs and wires werent on the car it would still try to turn over...and that it was a brand new battery. I just wanted my damn money back so i could go get a new one...but he just didnt wanna give it to me...even though im good friends with his son and ive known them for years. So he finally tell me to go back down there JUST to check the cables cuz its prolly bad cables and its not getting any power. But in order for it to click and go crazy...it has to be getting power right?

Anyway...what else could it be? Ive checked everything in there and it seems like the only thing it could be is the starter. Im really starting to get annoyed at the whole situation...my car is an hour and a half away and some dude just got through talking to me like im a kid and dont know **** about cars for over an hour. I know mroe about hondas than anyone at that shop damn it. Now only if i had a multimeter and some other **** id go down there and test everything out...but unfortunately i dont.

BTW-Its a 90 crx with a b18a with bolt ons. I need help fast...damn i miss my car.

Pop your damn clutch and get it home, you don't need the starter to actually start the car, just a good push.....I only say this because I drove my Integra for months with a bad starter that worked randomly! Anyway as far as the starter you bought goes: It sounds like it's something internally wrong with the starter, just in case try to jump your car off of your girlfriend's....If it starts with the extra juice, you know it's a power problem, if not go raise some hell with the shop you bought it at, they should at least EXCHANGE it...........If you can, go underneath the car and take the scattershield (little half moon shaped metal plate) off of the tranny, it only has four bolts, then have someone hit the ignition to see if the starter is turning the flywheel as it could be the starter gear not making good contact with the flywheel...............
