Default Alaniz streetmaster port job

Well, It's actually been a while since I got this work done by Joe Alaniz. Joe informed me, that it would not be worth my money to get the competition port job, since it would only flow about 1% more than the streetmaster. He did a great job, i only took .007 off the head to just make sure it was flat, I didn't want to try and gain compression from milling the head. After dropping off my head to him, he told me that 5 of my valves were bent, but I never noticed. The idle was fine and the car dynoed 218.7 before I got the head ported, which was kinda fishy; nevertheless, I paid a minimal amount for the 5 new valves. Also, the only issue I had with Alaniz was the promise of when my head would be done, but receiving it about 2 weeks late, he did compensate me for the down time though. The only thing I changed from the previous dyno and the Alaniz head was; 440cc RC injectors, Hondata IM gasket, AEM fuel rail + a stainless steel fuel line. I didn't really pick up too much on the dyno, but I picked up alot of torque. The dyno was from Church Automotive, and after only gaining like 8.x whp, we pulled the O2 pipe out of the exhaust and picked up another 9.x whp. Then I figured out that my exhaust was restricting too much flow. The exhaust was a Greddy SP muffler off of an integra, that I made 2 1/2" piping too, but cut the tip off, and put a 1 3/4" pipe on to fit an stock integra Ls tip on. I now have a new exhaust that I haven't dyno'd yet, but Sean and I agreed that it would easily make over 240whp on his dynapack with a new exhaust. Now I'm running a 3" Jasma Tanabe muffler off a R32 with 3" piping from the axle back. The red line on the second dyno is when we pulled the O2 pipe out of the exhaust.

My setup is as follows; JDM H22A OBD1
Jun III cams + dual valvesprings+ ti retainers+ camsprockets(set at 0/0)
vortech fpr, AEM fuel rail, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, RC 440cc injectors
Injen shortram intake, Prospeed headers, Spugen(greddy) exhaust
Alaniz streetmaster portwork, JG 64mm TB, IM ported at home by myself
NGK wires, NGK plugs, Fidanza flywheel, Exedy Clutch
Hondata S200

Firts dyno

and my dyno with the headwork and minor other parts

Actually reached a final number of 169 torque and 236whp in the end, all in all I'm very happy, regardless if it was a dynapack or not.

Not too much whp was realized, but a major factor was my muffler. Alot of torque was picked up though. Now with my new muffler, the car feels much much stronger, a world of difference.

Just thought I'd share this with all of you Prelude people. Since I feel more at home in the Prelude forum than the Accord forum. Hope this was informative to you guys.

Thats pretty damn good! Congrats... keep us posted if you re-dyno. Church knows his stuff when it comes to tuning.

Thanks, you set the bar for me+ the idea for the exhaust.
Sean Church definitely knows what's up with tuning

Very impressive results - gains across the board . . . . and GREAT to see back-to-back dynos of headwork.

It's so hard to get a sense of what the torque curve looks like with the dynapack software, though . . . do you happen to have the raw data in like a .csv or something so it could be imported into an excel graph?

Man those cams make some nasty power up high, whats your Vtec set at? I can't believe your making all that power with stock bottom end.

Is it only me but why does the torque graph jump up and down so. I mean you are seeing peak torque at about 5.5k and then it just falls flat after dat. Do you think some tuning with the gears would help?!

Yeah, the way that the dynapack scales the torque curve makes it look worse than it really is - but you're right - that dip @ like 6,900 rpms (and surge afterwards) is kinda odd.

So your still on the stock 10:6, but the again how much do you think your at after he shaved .007 off the head?

Yeah Im not too sure about the torque dip after I hit peak.
My vtec is set at 6500rpms....

Not sure on what my compression is now, couldnt be too much higher than the 10.6

It looks like my rings are going bad or something. Have over 100k on the motor and its starting to burn a quart of oil every oil change. So looks like another pricey rebuild in the near future. Nothing crazy though, probably just some type S pistons and balance everything. I guess money will never stop going into the car, I daily drive the car and I can't help but enjoy driving it hard.

Thanks everyone for all your feedback. Hope this helps you guys on making decisions as to parts and mods.

very good numbers and informative info that i personally appreciate a lot and so should others.

but elaborate more on the o2 pipe removeal. is that just a universal in line pipe they use for tuning or what?

A quart of oil per oil change is about normal for a Prelude.

Nice numbers, but I'd like to see the dynos instead of red x's

yeah the O2 pipe, is just a small section of pipe about 1 1/2" in diameter that has a wideband O2 sensor in it, thats stuck into the muffler for dyno tuning. My muffler that I dyno'd with had about a 1 3/4" tip.

The dyno's should be working, I see they are not right now. Ill check back in a bit to see if they're still not working.
