Default Head gasket

I heard recently that you can increase your compression without new pistons by simply using a thinner gasket.
I heard there are some made by aftermarket companies.

Is this true?

I also heard that you can use a honda gasket and just remove the inner layer and it's supposed to add .2 or.3 compression.
What kind of gains would you get?

Anybody heard of this?
I'm putting some adj cam gears in so I'll have everything opened up and it won't be that much more trouble.
Is this a safe mod to do on my GSR ???

You can get thinner headgaskets. They will give you .4 increase in compression.

I believe for every 1.0 compression increase you'll get 10% HP increase. so your only looking at 5 HP or so with the thinner HG.

So is this a safe mod to do?
I'm going to have the head open doin my cam gears,
so it won't be any trouble, I just need to know if it's a good idea.
I guess i should probably use a new gasket ?(not just take the layer out of the used stock one?)
