Default Project: Pegoda STAGE 1

Ok this is my Project. Pegoda(royal tenebaum style)
1990 Honda Crx Hf
Purchased for 500.00
266,000 mi on and was still running strong at(I dyno'd before i ripped the "d" out out, )an astonishing 47.6 hp at the wheels. This car hadn't been serviced since i beleive the first George Bush was in office. Invested almost 500$ in back CA registration bullshit. another 400$ in fixing every single emission p.o.s in that car. I had stock everything on the motor. I have pulled apart that d series more times then my wife has scolded me for being too horny. Kept it running while i saved up.
I got my b16a from Jspec auto... but the inside was immaculate ...so i worked on the qids and pros of this project...and here's the first stage. More pics to come later.
Here we go from the first couple days of work.

My tired HF Chasis/engine

My interior. only mods are alpine speakers...hehee that I-5 is a bitch, need some tunes in a car like this

Gotta love that HF Tranny. Here's me flying down interstate 5 over the grapevine, at 105mph in 3rd gear....at 5k....hehehee

Then my engine came finally
My b16a 5mil series(xsi) with my YS1 tranny..
[img][/img]

Heres me getting filthy...b/c i don't have a cool rolling chair for underneath the car....

Lifting it out.....2 years of working in the summer.....bleh and going to school full time.

Old and busted on the right....New hotness on the right......the size difference is scary....and to think going in a car that weighs almost a ton

CLICHE PIC, had to do it.....

Then we moved it to the garbage......Fri-pickup.....j/k

Follwed by clean up of VC and the block.....

And here is how she sits with no heart...

OK i'm out....i'm still waiting one exhaust and i'll get the rest of the pics up....

plans:
"Sleeper" of rip van winkle status

That looks like a sweet project, all you need is a tilt colum for the 10 foot high wheel, unless you like that.

notice how far i lean abck when i'm driving, i drive with the bottom portion of the wheel. People expect a granny to get out and then a 6'1 irish dude steps out the kinda step back....and don't want to steal my hf anymore......yeah....a lower column would be nice.....

holy god i would kill for that paint. I was up in the middle of No-where california and i'll show you what happens when you are stuck at college with no money and a broken CV joint....
This is your car before the make over.....don't worry it's just pollen. and that dent...is from a golf ball...my buddy's got a habbit of throwing stuff at cars so i threw my fist in his face. To this day he says it was worth it. SO needless to say this was Pegoda before a good washing.

I thought the integra rear discs were the same size as the crx rear discs. Besides.. rear discs don't help you stop faster anyway.

I have an 88si.. the lightest of the si's and I know you might not care for the sunroof option in an si (mr. "mighty HF") but turning on the A/C in our NW rainstorms to defrost the windows is a dream come true.... Oh yea, it's also nice for summer (what 2 months of summer we're lucky enough to get.). When it comes to a street car, you can't knock creature comforts... after all, it is a street car.

Burlyirishdude: after you give that paint a good waxing it might not be so bad. And don't worry.. I have faded paint and rust spots but I just think of them as "theft deterents".

I'm in san Diego there's nothing wrong with high 70's low 60's everyday. and the windows work in my car so it's awesome. Thanks for the bumps guys/gals. I can't wait to upload the pics of my messy *** swap. Cosmetics come later, the engine has to work before i can make it look pretty under her hood.

Everything is in, it turns over and sounds like a mustang 5.0 ran into this virgin Honda. I put some new stuff on it...
New additions:
-FRONT END:
New hubs to accomodate the Integ. axels for the YS1 tranny.
New rotors
New calipers
New brakes
New braided Brake lines
Upgraded the entire front end suspension upgraded from the HF to the SI standards. 300$ from Southbay autowrecking. (everything was prestine)

-EXHAUST:
New flange from an old Integra to fit the B16a E.Manifold
2" piping
17" resonator
high flow cat
triple chamber muffler(Classic looking ef9 bend)
To a 2.25" muffler tip that is flush with the rear bumper.
New hangers new everything.
Price=450$ and a new sponser. Jesse's performance Exhaust

-MISCELLANEOUS
-New Throttle cable, 90 integra cable. Fits perfectly, TB opens very easily. Gas pedal repsonds flawlessly.
-Engine turns on, need to ground the valve cover, and the thermostat. and bam grounds are done.
-Reweld the Intergra Shift linkage. 3.25" too long on both the Torque rod and the shifter rod
-I just finished the Crimpping of the 18gauge wire for the new sensors. 2nd 02, Vtec selenoid, Oil pressure, and KS

----
Big issue: Vaccum.
pegoda is an HF, so there is the EGR and all that garbage stuffed into the under the hood firewall mounted emission box. So i am wondering if i can Rip it all out and keep just the MAP, Purge cutoff, and Selenoid, and just run all the lines.

That's about it.

All in all doing fairly well,
only throwing two codes.
a 6 and a 21. But the 21 went away went i connected the Vtec Selenoid. SO i have to test the code 6 sensor.

That's all the stuff done so far.

But she sounds fucken great.....she purrs.
HP rating after all new additions - (xsi motor) 178hp
lb/ft - is hovering the 113 range.

i would guess that the 160hp stock and the bolt-ons would have something to do with it. I thought it was kinda scary myself having the filter rpomise 5-6, The exhaust gaining 10hp. But i guess when you shell out Money you expect numbers, i just hope the numbers don't lie. But then again what do i care. I've tripled my horsepower (from the stock 62) and gained almost 20-25 lb/ft. So **** i don't care about the jhp, all i know is....i can go up hills and i won't stall in 1st gear. Actually happened to me in S.F. Had to rev all the way up in the 5k range to get her to go uphill. i think before all the smog stuff and cleaning out the engine iw as running MAYBE 40horses....less then honda's motorcycles...
hopefully the numbers won't lie. But yeah 175+ on a stock b16a is a huge Spike, espeically for the XSI.
