hard clutch
hi, i was test driving a guys honda accord. its a standard, when i was shifting, i noticed the clutch was pretty hard to press down. its a nice car, gears shift smoothly, just the clutch seems really wierd. what would i have to buy to fix this? thanks.
weak release diaphram on pressure plate, think of it as a leverage theory.
let say you have six levers to pry of a stone off the ground.
if one decided to take a break, would that put extra load on the other five?
that's why you get that heavy pedal feel.

Is this a common problem? I noticed my clutch is heavy too (98 EX - had the car for about 4 months now) I believe it's stock with 136k miles. My previous car (91 Eclipse GST) had a stage 2 kevlar and it was lighter than this.
Before you go that far and pull the tranny you may just want to check the slave cyl. Mine had an internal seal that was bad,not leaking and the pedal was hard as a rock. Replaced it and got back to being smooth as the day it was new. Try this first.
You shouldnt have any problems the clucth pedal in my 90 dx has always been heavy i personally like it that way even after i replaced all the clutch and its other components it was still stiff it seems like most other cars have really soft pedals i drove my friends 00 civic si and i couldnt even tell if the clutch was in or out i didnt like my thats my opinion
