Default what do you do?

just wanted to see how many guys actually work in the industry. so post what you do/what shop you work for/ and where it located. dont feel stupid if you dont work in a shop and just weld/fab in the evenings and weekends thats still more than most people can say. oh and an added benefit of this will be anyone looking for a shop to fab a cage or anything for that matter will know where to look.

I work full time in Concord, Ontario, Canada for a company called Beverage Machinery. We service the brewing industry with parts and full installs. I do piping installations with mostly .065 wall 304/316 Stainless Steel. I am a certfied pressure vessel Tig welder and love my job. In my spare time I build cages, and race in Solo 1 and 2. I have just started building a 95 EG and have built some other nice cars. I love this new Welding/fab forum and hope to contribute more.

Thanks

D.

I just started working full time for Devil In Disguise Race Engineering. We build street/drag/track cars. Pretty much anything high performance, we can do. My job is to fabricate and install parts. I can Mig/Tig/Arc weld and have been going to school for welding for 3 years.

I build and tune race cars. I do it all, from fabrication, to wiring, to assembly, to tuning. Just about everything except fiberglass and paint and body.

I'm a technical consultant/ R & D technician for Burns Stainless. I design headers day in and day out, answer all the tech questions. Take part in our multiple R & D projects. In charge of the whole import side of things.

My boss is also training me to build headers, i feel this is an artform in itself and not many ppl can do it very well. So hopefully in the next year or so i will be able to provide you guys with some headers.

I'm also in the looooong process of attempting to build a bullet proof turbo street car that actully hooks up

the things you guys do fabing stuff is simply amazing. i have fabed some stuff. and have built a sandrail but nothing to the extent of you guys. fabbing to me is very rewarding in that you get to see your end product in use. you guys are the true workers and deserve much more respect than you get. keep on fabbing and maybe someday i can join the ranks of you guys building full tube chassis and manifolds.

boost more
relax from my stressfull day
sleep

somehow this non conventinal life pays the bills and funds the hatch

I Do Sales for Magnaflow Performance. I used to handle a lot of tech calls and questions, but now I travel too much and am in charge of other things. In my off time I am working on friends cars & trucks or my own. Almost anything except for I dont know how to weld yet... But I am going to learn soon because we have some incredibly skilled guys here. But there is no hurry for me to learn until I get my welder...

I'm an Embedded Systems Engineer.

We have a machine shop with pretty much free reign in the back from our mechanical days. We have 4 laythes, 3 mills, 3 mig welders with remote power supplies, 1 miller Syncrowave 350, 1 very large plasma cutter, prong-type panel spot welder, 4 large acorn tables, bead blaster, 100hp worth of air compressors, air dryer, and the list goes on, and on and on.

I just do the mechanical fab stuff for fun. I would love to open up a shop although unfortunatly this equipment couldn't go with me . I am currently working on several electronic devices for the racing industry but its hard to find adequate time with work.

I work at Specialty Autoworks in TN. We build kit cars, replicas, and perform restorations. I only do non-structural welding but all the bodywork, interiors, and setup/ fab parts for our welder. I've also done some bucks for our mold guy. I'm still just learning and hope to get certified as a welder sometime next year.

I work in a fab shop building pressure vessels and tanks and from time to time do engineering drawings too, but we do pretty much anything fab related in industry. I'm also looking to set up my own shop too, building suspension/turbo parts for all types of cars. Just a side thing though, I don't think I'd ever want to go solo with it.

I work for shall I say a "large" engine manuf. Hard to explain but I'm a type of "special" engineer/mechanic I can be anywhere in US/Canada/Mexico within a day. Cutomers, fleets, engine plants, etc. I have to be able to work with just about everything MIG, TIG, mill, lathe, computers, diagnostics, every type of turbo you can imagine, advanced fuel systems, engine control and programming, cold testing, NVH, design engineering, etc, etc.

My prior work on cars and fabrication skills have helped countless times.....all that time in the garage and machine shop proved useful after all.
