What could this noise be?
My dad and I just replaced part of my exhaust, which was getting kind of loud, and driving home I heard what sounded like a belt every time he stepped on the gas. But then I was wondering if it was the sound of air being sucked in. I've heard that the Prelude has secondary intake runners or something like that and I was wondering if it was that or not. My car is bone stock. If anyone can tell me if this is normal or not that would be great, I don't really need anything else to fix right now. Thanks.
What do you mean sounds like a belt?? Squealing?
The secondaries are built into your intake manifold and the only way you'd hear those is if you listen very carefully to the engine around 5k...

No it wasn't a squealing sound, just like you could here something slightly rubbing against something else. But it had that rhythm that would make you think it was a belt.
Is it like 2 metal pieces are vibrating against eachother really fast...kind of like grinding???
Heat sheilds line your entire exhaust system and those can easily start vibrating.

No, I don't think it's heatshields. It's only when the gas is pushed. Maybe I'll have to just chalk it up to age and miles. (see my sig)
