Question for all TEIN HA owners.
Question:
To stiffen the dampeing, do you turn right? (I do)
To soften dampening, do you turn left? (i do too)
From where do you start your clicks?
I start at the far-most right until I can't move any more. Then click leftward to softness.
When my suspension was shipped to me, this is the setting that they were at. (Far Right). I assumed that it was the starting point.
I was told that this is incorrect.
It should be: start from the left most then click towards the right for stiffness.
I heard people make comments about the Tein HA's are sometimes too soft when set to its highest setting. I don't think so. When I set mine to the stiffest setting (farthest right), I can't move the car at all. For example, I'll set the rear to full stiff, open the hatch and jump up and down on the crossmember. The car does not move. Feels like I have a solid rod for a strut.
Please somebody clarify this. If I am going past the healthy limit of the dampener, then why was it shipped that way?

from what i know, start at full clockwise which is at full stiff. then, turn counter to soften. the most you should go is 16 clicks. to go stifer, always go back to full clockwise then go counter till you are at you setting. when the EDFC computer comes out from TEIN, it will be interesting how those servos work. might want to look. as far as i could tell, it doesnt matter from wehre you start, as long as you dont go past 16 clicks counter. also...you might want to check out a ferrari 355. it has motors or servos just like an EDFC. bad ***! maybe thats where TEIN got this idea from. now can TEIN make a paddle shifter?
im the first ever TEIN USA customer haha!

Hmmnn. I go the opposite way. Start at full soft (left) and click to the right (more stiff). Not that I am correct. Never thought about any other way. Seems to work.
Yes, you have to start from full hard and click down to softer settings.
Hard = clockwise/Soft =counterclockwise

what happens if you do go past 16 clicks in either direction?
I have turned mine tons of time and I'm sure that I turned it past that point. Why? I forget sometimes on what setting I have put it on. Then when I go to start over I might have over turned it since I didn't know what the starting point was.
Anyhow, when I had my car corner weighted, balanced, adjusted, etc... they adjusted my stiffness to the best possible setting for my weight balance. As for what that setting is, I forget.

I don't think turning them past 16 clicks will hurt them, they eventually stop around 20-something. I just think past 16 they won't get any softer. I was wondering the same thing though, a definitive answer would be nice.

Where do most of you guys who drive on the street set them(In clicks)? I think I have mine about half way inbetween soft and hard.

I have to disagree with most of you about starting out at the full stiff. When I first got my TEINs, I started out just like most of you, from the full stiff. I had mine set at 8 clicks front and 5 clicks rear (clicks are counted from the full stiff) for the street, and 5 clicks front 2 clicks rear for auto-x. I didn't feel any difference. So I tried the other way around, started out at full soft, 5 clicks front and 10 clicks rear (counted from full soft) for street, and 9 clicks front 16 clicks rear for auto-x. I could feel the difference with the change in setting. So from then on, I always start from the full soft, so 16 clicks from full soft will be the stiffest setting, and clicks beyond that will be the same as the stiffest setting. Now I'm running 1 click front 4 clicks rear (counted from full soft) for street on both my Prelude and Integra. For me these are the best settings for comfort on the street. For auto-x, it's different, I set it according to track condition.
BTW, I've been on those TEINs for over 3 yrs on the Prelude, over 1 yr on the Integra.
