Default camshafts at TDC

Just rebuilt my H22 head and the camshafts wont stay in the tdc position. Before they would stay with both arrows pointing straight up but now they won't. I can turn them to this postion but when I release them the exhaust cam would turn backward on its own (2-3 teeth retard) and the intake cam would turn forward (2-3 teeth advance). Is this normal after a rebuild. I did place oil in the LMA holder positions before installing the LMAs. Could this be the reason? My difficulty now is how do I hold the gears in position to get the belt on? Please note all rocker adjuster screws are backed off fully.

It is just the way it is. Get someone to hold it in place while you put the belt on. Or you can buy an aftermarket cam gear locking mechanism.

yeah your gonna need to hold the cam in place while putting on the timing belt, this usually happens when you get stiffer springs
