Default H22 Secondary runner question

On my motor there is no diaphragm or actuator for the secondary butterflies, but there is a spring on the butterflies and I can move them and they spring back. Are they opened or closed when they spring back?

if they spring back forward then they are closed. Vaccume is what actually controls the secondaries (other than the ecu etc..). If you pull their vac hose they stay open.

There is the aforementioned black box that controls them, as well as a vacuum diaphram on the side of the IM that pushed the secondaries open at around 5k rpm.

I have no diaphragm. There is a plug hanging labeled IAB. Maybe the previous owner removed the butterflies in the IM.
