Default Are CTR pistons really that good?

I bought an 1999 jdm B16b a couple days ago and pulled the head last night. I was surprised to see how much carbon built up was on the pistons and caked on throught the exhuast ports off the head as well! I know many engines get some kind of carbon layer, but this one seems to be accesive.
I've heard its a good idea to run a flatter style which is more resistance to heat build up and detenation.

Pistons are designed to make the flame move from the intake side to the exhaust side. Dome pistons don't exactly help that. The people I know that are hardcore into drag racing usually run something along the lines of 14 ~15:1 flat tops. Those are all pretty much custom setups though. Its hard to get high compression with an otherwise stock designed head without using a good dome on the pistons. I could go on forever but I won't

yea it doesnt help with the **** going to the other side plus it doesnt allow for the same quantity of air fuel mixture going into the motor because of the dome of the piston. it is also a heavy piston but that is due to the dome of piston. the compression is high which is why it gives good numbers on dynos. but the compression might a be a little to high for some if not most people driving on the street. it really depends on how you want your motor everyone has their own way of looking at things. i would rather have 11.1 or 11.5 compression pistons and have the head milled a little instead.
