I have a 1999 acura integra LS b18b1 that’s been parked for the past 6 months or so. the car wasn’t getting spark (crank no start) so i replaced the distributor and now it at least starts up and idles fine. the problem is whenever i try to rev the car up it bogs and wants to die, until i let back off the throttle, then it will rev slightly. if i very lightly press the throttle i can get it to rev up to at least 5k rpm. here’s what i’ve tried so far

• new distributor and yes i made sure it went back in the same way the old one came out
• drained the gas tank and put in fresh gas with injector cleaner
• unplugged tps sensor and map sensor separately

im lost at what to do now. the car ran fine until something in the distributor went bad but now it is having problems. there’s no check engine light whenever the car is running. i poured some oil into the cylinders tonight because it was smoking a little out of the exhaust. any advice would be appreciated.

 

so i changed the spark plugs today and it’s doing the same thing. will not idle or rev when cold but will idle when warmed up. it threw a code while it was warming up P1359 CKP/TDC Sensor Connector Disconnection. it is my understanding that the crank position sensor is inside the distributor which i just replaced. any input?

 

I haven't had this specific problem but I do know that cheapo distributors have a bad reputation on these cars. See if you can source a good used OEM one.

 

Tried a known good distributor and didn’t change anything. Any suggestions anyone?
