1997 Honda Civic 1.4i (EUDM) CEL problems
Hi. My 97' Civic has been having some problems
1st my check engine lit up a while ago I didnt think much of it. Turns out my car went into limp mode. Now. I tried to pull CEL codes. But instead of flashing it just stays on. No flashes. Has anyone had this kind of problem? And I tried deleting CEL codes. BEFORE U ASK this is OBD1 not OBD2 so I do the paperclip method

Is it an engine/ecu swapped car? Or did EUDM cars follow a different OBD pattern?
I thought Honda did their computer switch across the board, USDM & JDM & world for that matter?
88-91 OBD0
92-95 OBD1
96-98 OBD2a
98+ OBD2b
It doesn't matter though, the CEL blink codes work into the mid 2000's. It may be possible that the wires aren't jumped across. Even though you have a wire in there, (bread tie, paper clip, wire) it may not be making contact.

I really thought that on my '95 civic that the SRS light blinked to show that the jumper was indeed jumped, but none of the YouTube videos that I've watched show this.
Sometimes you car will be running badly and not thrown a code. But if you were driving your car, and the CEL came on, then there should be a code stored. If you check
the computer by the "paper clip method", and you check for CEL blink codes, and nothing shows up. It could be that the ECM/ECU backup fuse is blown, and thus, the
computer is unable to store the codes when you turn the ignition off. On the 92-95 civics, you could tell that the ECM back up fuse was blown when the dash clock didn't work.
I'm not sure of an easy check for the 1997 besides pulling the fuse box lid under the hood to check for blown fuses.
Some vids to watch with additional pointers:
