Default Rear differential leak

While changing the differential fluid on my 2013 CRV I noticed the passenger side boot had fluid on it.What normally causes this?I recently had the transmission seal’s done, would this be a bad differential seal? Thank you for your help.

Is that the rear diff? I don't see any where else it could come from other than inside the boot/seal.
I have noticed some loose fluid on the pax side of my FWD 02 CRV and could not really pin it down where it was coming from. I had put new CTRL arms on so thought maybe it was self induced and / or leftover.

Did you ever find out what was causing the issue pictured here? The passenger side rear axle on my 2013 crv has this exact same oil/dirt buildup.

Thanks

I had the same issue on my 2004 AWD Element and it was the rear differential seal.

Good to know. Was the repair expensive if you had it done professionally, and if you did it yourself, what was the level of difficulty? I do most of the maintenance myself, but this would be a new one for me.

Thanks

Hi $359 with a Honda discount coupon. I had it done at DCH Paramus Honda in NJ where I bought the vehicle.
